🎞🇷🇺🇺🇦 Bakhmut: a new phase in the battle for Donbass
One of the most popular questions during the special military operation boils down to the banal "Why aren't our troops advancing on settlement N, since from there it's a direct road to victory?"
In both Popasna and Bakhmut, such a question has been raised more than once. And instead of a thousand explanations, we decided to make a video which demonstrates what is happening.
Today, AFU are trying with all their might to hold back the Russian offensive. Reinforcements are being constantly sent near Bakhmut, while artillery and tactical aviation of the enemy are attacking the advancing units.
Wagner's PMC assault units are breaking through the defensive lines to the east of Bakhmut. It is likely that they will be tasked with the capture of the vital population centre.
Bakhmut itself is difficult to defend effectively because of its geographical location. The city is located in a lowland area along the riverbed. But there will definitely be no easy assault.

▪️After the release of Ukrainian formations from Kharkiv Direction, a significant number of troops were redeployed to Luhansk Direction. Kreminna, Rubizhne and Lysychans'k are AFU’s priority targets.
▪️AFU managed to occupy Bilohorivka, being a grey zone for a long time.
▪️Ukrainian forces managed to break through Russian Armed Forces' defence for a short time in Berestove. As a result of the counterattack, AFU were pushed back from the village. The settlement is fully controlled by Allied Forces.
▪️North of Berestove, AFU managed to occupy Spirne. Part of Wagner’sPMC forces had to be redeployed there. Ukrainian formations are trying to push through Allied Forces’ defences.
▪️Heavy fighting continues in Soledar. Allied Forces are storming abandoned residential areas from the side of KNAUF Gips Donbass Factory. At the moment, Russian troops control at least a quarter of the city.
▪️Wagner’s PMC main forces continue to methodically destroy AFU firing points in Bakhmut (Artemivsk). Reports about the control over the champagne factory have not been confirmed. PMC forces are at a crossroads in the eastern part of Patrice Lumumba Street.
▪️ Southeast of Bakhmut, Donbasskaya Electric Substation (Pidstantsiya "Donbassʹka”), a powerful AFU stronghold, was mopped up. Now Wagner’s PMC forces operating in this area are developing an offensive in the direction of Vesela Dolyna.
▪️At this stage neither Bakhmut nor Soledar can be swooped in. Allied Forces carry out the task of methodically mopping up the approaches and outskirts. Despite the relatively slow pace of advance, Allied Forces successfully carry out the task of destroying the enemy's reinforcements and cutting off their main communications.

🔻AFU units are attempting a counter-offensive in all existing directions, including Soledar.
▪️In recent days Ukrainian forces have concentrated their efforts on counterattacks along the entire front line from Spoine to Mykolaivka Druha, but they have all been successfully repulsed.
▪️During the battles with the Wagner’s PMC units in and around Bakhmut (Artemivsk), the Ukrainian 53rd Brigade suffered heavy losses in manpower and was withdrawn to Cherkasy region to be re-manned.
▪️The AFU 30th Mechanized Brigade units were disorganized due to several commanders’ desertion.
▪️However, Ukrainian forces will continue to attempt counterattacks by redeploying additional forces to this direction. For example, the 93rd Mechanized Brigade tank company was deployed to Opytne, together with 10 pieces of equipment.
▪️In addition, in order to deter Russian forces, Ukrainian artillery and MLRS are firing at the areas of Vesela Dolyna and Volodymyrivka.
▪️In turn, AFU's 10th Brigade units are planning to probe the Russian Armed Forces' defences on the southeastern outskirts of Spornoye.
▪️The AFU 10th Mountain Assault Brigade units are unlikely to succeed in Soledar direction due to the deeply echeloned defences of well-trained Russian units in this section of the front.
